Ashburn man injured in Leesburg motorcycle crash

WASHINGTON — A man from Ashburn, Virginia, was seriously injured following a motorcycle crash that blocked eastbound traffic for hours on Virginia Route 7 in part of Leesburg.

Leesburg police spokesman Sam Shenouda said police received a call for a motorcyclist down just east of Battlefield Parkway on Route 7 around 2 a.m. Officers found the 30-year-old man seriously injured.

The man was airlifted to Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but by 5:30 a.m. Shenouda said he was doing better. The man is expected to survive.

Eastbound traffic was diverted at Battlefield Parkway, just outside historic Leesburg and roads were closed between Battlefield and River Creek Parkway.

The Virginia State Police Accident Reconstruction crew and officials with the Virginia Department of Transportation were on the scene.
