W. Va. man arrested, discharged firearm at Loudoun Co. music fest

WASHINGTON — A West Virginia man was arrested after he discharged a firearm during a music festival Sunday in Aldie, Virginia.

Charles E. Crowley, 33, of Shanks, West Virginia, shot the firearm around 3:30 p.m. in the 24000 block of Quail Ridge Lane in Loudoun County.

According to a news release, he was involved in a physical altercation with on-scene security officers before discharging the gun.

Crowley pointed and attempted to fire the weapon at the security officers, but the firearm was jammed. Security officers were able to detain him until deputies arrived.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

Crowley was taken into custody by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and charged with attempted second-degree murder and willfully discharging firearms in public places.

Crowley had injuries that were not life-threatening from the altercation with security officers, and he was transported to a hospital. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
