1 dies in Loudoun Co. crash

WASHINGTON — One person is dead and another person is in the hospital after a crash in Loudoun County Monday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., a car and box truck collided on Va. 7, west of Round Hill. One person died as a result of the crash, said Kraig Troxell, Loudoun County Sheriff’s spokesman.

Emergency crews transported another person to an area hospital for treatment, Troxell said. The injuries are not serious.

The victim’s name has not yet been released. Authorities have not been able to reach out to next of kin, Troxell said.

The crash is causing some traffic delays for rush hour. The westbound lanes of Va. 7 is closed at the scene, and one of the eastbound lanes has been opened up to westbound traffic until the scene is cleared.

“Motorists should follow all law enforcement direction in this area and drive with caution. If you can avoid this area, please find an alternate route,” the sheriff’s department said on its Facebook page.
