WASHINGTON — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warming for portions of Southern Maryland and several counties in Northern Virginia.
The warning is in effect until 8:30 p.m. and includes:
- West central Charles County, Maryland
- South central Fairfax County, Virginia
- Southern Prince William County, Virginia
- Northeastern Stafford County, Virginia
Damaging winds could cause damage to trees and large branches. There were reports of wind gusts of 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail.
The NWS warns that local outages are possible.
