Sex abuse charges dropped against Bethesda camp counselor

WASHINGTON — The charges against a local camp counselor accused of sex abuse have been dropped due to lack of evidence, NBC 4 Washington reports.

Jose Valenzuela known as “Jolly”  taught magic classes at Holton-Arms Creative Center in Bethesda. He was arrested July 10 after an 11-year-old girl accused him of touching her inappropriately.

He was charged with third-degree sex offense and sex abuse of a minor. Both charges were dropped on Aug. 7 as prosecutors said there was not enough evidence to prosecute the case.
