WASHINGTON — Have a teacher who helped you learn or gave you direction? Tuesday is a day to offer thanks because it’s National Teacher Appreciation Day.
WTOP took to Twitter to ask people about some the teachers who deserve a pat on the back.

@WTOP — Deedra Haven of Winding Creek Elementary. Creative and instrumental in teaching and the kids love her. She’s my BFFFFF of 15 years!

There’s an added benefit to thanking teachers through social media Tuesday. The National Education Association and the National PTA are selecting 10 random people thanking a teacher using #ThankATeacher on social media to receive a $100 Visa gift card to give to their favorite teacher for supplies.
Have a teacher you appreciate? Let us know with #WTOP.
