WASHINGTON — Starting Tuesday, expect extra noise and extra traffic in Annapolis, Maryland.
The Blue Angels are in town for Commissioning Week at the U.S. Naval Academy.
As always, the Maryland State Highway Administration will close the Naval Academy (Route 450) Bridge over the Severn River while the Blue Angels soar above.
Tuesday’s bridge closure runs from 10:45 a.m. until 4 p.m., because the Blue Angels’ circle and arrival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an afternoon flight rehearsal following at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, the bridge will be closed again from 1:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a 2 p.m. flight rehearsal.
During these closures, SHA encourages drivers to use Rowe Boulevard to get in and out of Annapolis, and to give themselves extra time to make the trip.
Then, Friday at 10:04 a.m., the Blue Angels will fly over Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium during the Naval Academy’s graduation ceremony.
The graduation, coupled with the Memorial Day getaway, is expected to create heavy traffic on Route 50 starting Thursday and continuing Friday.
