Woman pleads guilty in killing of Woodbridge High School student

WASHINGTON – Diandra Samuels has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a Woodbridge High School senior.

Samuels is accused of fatally stabbing Kenny Diaz, 18, in September 2013. She will now be sentenced in May, the Washington Post reports.

Diaz was found bleeding from a stab wound to the stomach at Marumsco Acre Lake Park after a confrontation involving a large group. The Washington Post reports that witnesses said Samuels and a group of neighbors assaulted Diaz after he and three friends tried to rob one of Samuels’ friends.

Diaz and his friends were retaliating for an earlier robbery, in which the Post reports Samuels took money from a friend of Diaz’s.

Samuels was charged with murder. Eleven others – including four juveniles — were arrested, some charged with abduction and lesser offenses.
