8 people, puppy displaced by Rockville fire

A total of eight people including four children were displaced from their home after a fire broke out Friday night.

It happened on Paul Drive in Rockville, Maryland.  Montgomery County Fire’s Spokesman Pete Piringer says everyone got out of the house safely thanks to a working smoke alarm .

Firefighters also rescued a puppy dog named April,  who they are calling her by another name – “Lucky.”

A curling iron left on a bed is said to have caused the fire.  The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
