Playoff rematches dominate DMV Game of the Week candidates

WASHINGTON — It’s the playoffs, so it’s time to throw the regular season records and results out the window. Unless, that is, you happen to run into a team that beat you during the regular season. In that case, the opportunity for revenge and redemption is right in front of you for the taking.

Such is the situation for all four of our DMV Game of the Week candidates.

Seneca Valley (10-1) can avenge its lone loss of the season just three weeks after falling to undefeated Damascus (11-0) in the Maryland 3A playoffs.

Dunbar (7-4) can get twice the measure of revenge against Woodson (6-4) after dropping a 35-0 decision at home on October 2, then suffering a 39-24 loss on Halloween.

Broad Run (8-3) has the chance to pay Stone Bridge (7-4) back for a 27-13 road loss with a home playoff win that would get the Spartans to the Virginia 5A state quarterfinals.

And last but not least, Good Counsel can deny DeMatha the WCAC title Sunday by exacting revenge from a 28-23 defeat just two weeks ago with a win at Byrd Stadium.

Vote below for the game we should profile and cover live by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, and don’t forget to submit future matchups for consideration as the playoffs roll on.
