WASHINGTON — The roof of the Merriweather Post Pavilion collapsed Saturday morning.
According to a tweet from the Columbia, Maryland, outdoor concert venue, the roof unexpectedly collapsed around 2:30 a.m.
The roof was being hydraulically lifted 20 feet, almost in the final position before securing it permanently onto the pavilion. It was being raised as part of a renovation project.
IMP founder Seth Hurwitz, who operates the Merriweather Post Pavilion, said in a statement that the roof will be rebuilt and the venue will be ready for the season opening.
