PHOTOS: Kids receive surprise visit from Obama, Fauci at DC student vaccination clinic

Kids getting their COVID-19 shots at a student vaccination clinic at a D.C. elementary school got some surprise visitors: Dr. Anthony Fauci, former President Barack Obama and Teddy, one of the Washington Nationals’ Racing President mascots.

The trio dropped by Kimball Elementary School in Southeast, where a clinic was held Tuesday, to remind families of the importance of getting vaccinated.

“Getting our kids fully vaccinated is the best way to protect them against COVID-19,” Obama said in a tweet.

According to a report by news partner NBC Washington, 42% of children over the age of five are fully vaccinated in Ward 7, while Ward 8 has a lower rate.
