The District welcomed thousands of police officers, their families and supporters to honor those killed in the line of duty as part of National Police Week.
As part of the event, the names of fallen officers were read during a candlelight vigil on the National Mall on Saturday night.
A total of 556 officers names were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Outgoing D.C. Police Chief Robert Conte was among those who read the names of the officers who died.
