Chill out: Tyra Banks’ new ice cream shop cools off DC

Tyra Banks opens ice cream pop-up in DC

Hundreds waited in line Friday to get free ice cream — and a glimpse of the owner of new pop-up ice cream shop Smize & Dream.

The first 202 people (D.C.’s area code) in line got a free scoop of ice cream and got to meet Tyra Banks.

Banks has said the pop-up shop is going to run through September 20, offering a taste of the brand to D.C.-area patrons for the coming weeks. Afterward, Banks plans to open a non-profit ice cream learning center in the District aimed at helping underserved youth in the city.

The supermodel, TV personality, and creator of America’s Next Top Model told WTOP why she picked the Woodley Park neighborhood of Washington as the first official location of Smize & Dreams and recommended an ice cream flavor that you should try.
