Car Review: Want a midsize luxury SUV with a big V6? Better hurry, it’s the last year to find it in the Infiniti QX60

Infiniti has been making large luxury SUVs for some time now, and the QX60 has been the company’s big seller lately. The 2024 boasts the final year for V6 power. Starting with the 2025 model, a smaller four-cylinder engine will take its place under the hood.

I spent a week with a 2024 model. That 3.5L V6 is a smooth operator and with 295 horsepower, it proved itself capable of moving the three-row SUV smartly. The V6 can also tow 6,000 pounds. Where the 2024 model falls short is in fuel economy — and one reason the 2025 model year should fare better. The QX60 is comfortable and hushed on the commute. On the highway, however, there’s not much feedback or feel in the steering wheel. I spent most of a tiring five-hour trip trying to keep it in the lane.

The Infiniti QX60 offers a pleasant place to spend hours in comfort. The Infiniti QX60 Autograph has an upscale well-appointed interior with quilted semi-aniline leather seats that are plush and well-bolstered. The front seats offer heat, ventilation and a massage feature that helps ease the miles away. Second row captain’s chairs are also a fine place to rest without hassle. The third row is better for smaller passengers (under 5-foot-5) and children fit well. The technology is straightforward and easier to use than other three row luxury SUVs in its class.

While the vehicle is not the newest luxury SUV on the market, the QX60 has aged nicely and is still a handsome ride. This Infiniti’s optional two-tone paint scheme is sharp and helps you locate it in a full parking lot. The 22-inch wheels and even the Infiniti emblem on the large front grill is lit, so you know what you’re driving, even at night.

Cost: $66,100; as tested $69,445
MPG: 20 MPG City; 25 MPG Highway. I averaged 23.1 MPG in 549 miles of mixed driving.
Options: $900 premium paint; $795 lighting package; $455 Infiniti radiant grill lighting
Safety: Forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection; predictive forward collision warning; electronic brake force distribution; blind spot warning; around view monitor with moving object detection; backup collision intervention; hill start assist; front and rear sonar system; distance control assist
Things to know: The Infiniti QX60 offers luxury and the last year for V6 power.
