Car Review: On the track or commute, Dodge’s Charger R/T Scat Pack is ready to party

While crossovers are popular, there are some cars that are just too cool to keep down. The Dodge Charger is one sedan that seems to stay relevant in the land of tall, lumbering SUVs.

The Charger is a large sedan that has plenty of space for a family, but you can also do big smoky burnouts with its big V-8 engine.

The Charger has power to spare, and it sounds mean too, due to a 6.4L V-8 that has plenty of grunt.

Keeping up with traffic isn’t a problem at all with 485hp. If that’s not enough power for you, there are models with up to 797hp.

The Charger I drove gets the power to the ground easier with the optional wide body package, which comes with wheels and tires that are larger and wider than before.

Inside this big brute, there is space for five, and you aren’t roughing it either. The Nappa/Alcantara seats are heated and ventilated. Back seat riders have heated rear seats and ride in plenty of comfort.

The easy-to-use NAV system, with large 8.4″ touch screen, and the loud Harman Kardon 19-speaker surround system can even drown out the mighty V-8.

While most sedans try to hide and fit in, that’s not so with the Charger R/T Scat Pack Plus. It looks menacing and demands attention with its flared fenders and satin black hood with a large scoop. Sweet blacked-out 20″ wheels also show off some serious Brembo brakes. With brakes that big, this has to be a fast ride.

Cost: $40,495; as tested $63,840
