WASHINGTON — It’s not exactly ice cream weather in the D.C. area, but is there ever really a bad day for free ice cream?
Ben & Jerry’s would likely argue “no,” although if they gave away free ice cream every day it would put quite a mark on the company’s bottom line.
But Tuesday isn’t just any day. It’s the company’s anniversary and to celebrate, it’s holding “Free Cone Day” as a way to thank its loyal customers.
From noon to 8 p.m., fans can stop by a Ben and Jerry’s scoop shop to get a free cone.
Free Cone Day is about more than just free ice cream. The company also uses the day to showcase local nonprofits at each of its stores.
This year, the new Ben & Jerry’s District Wharf location has teamed up with the Trust for the National Mall. The Trust for the National Mall is a public-private partnership that works to get private support to design and deliver modern solutions to “transform” visitor experience at the Mall and preserve the Mall’s historic legacy.
If the District Wharf is a bit too far for you, you can find the closest scoop shop by visiting the company’s website.
