M&M’s may come out of McFlurrys and Blizzards

WASHINGTON — M&M’s could be coming out of your McDonald’s McFlurry.

An industry source tells Reuters Mars has had talk with McDonald’s and other partners about removing the candies.

The concern is that desserts that feature M&M’s, including McDonald’s McFlurry, Burger King’s Snickers pie and Dairy Queen’s Blizzard, exceed in a single serving the amount of sugar the
U.S. government recommends anyone eat in a day.

Mars has promised to limit sugar in all of its products, but declined to discuss the details, releasing a statement to Reuters that said,” We are now working alongside our suppliers and customers to bring this commitment to life.”
