Woman dies after being struck by car in Annandale

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the woman who died when a car struck her in Annandale Tuesday morning.

Ok Soon Kim, a 78-year-old Annandale resident, was struck by a car around 5 a.m. while attempting to cross Columbia Pike at Gallows Road. She was outside a marked crosswalk, Fairfax County police said Tuesday afternoon.

The driver was driving eastbound on Columbia Pike when he struck Kim. The driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators, police said.

Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, police said, and no charges are expected to be filed.

Eastbound traffic on Columbia Pike had been closed as a result of the crash; it reopened shortly before 9 a.m.
