Reston doctor charged with assaulting patient

WASHINGTON — A doctor who worked in Reston, Virginia, has been charged with two counts of assault after a police investigation determined he had “inappropriate contact” with an adult male patient.

Fairfax County police said 63-year-old Dr. Ticoni Barte, of Herndon, Virginia, turned himself in on Saturday, May 19. He was charged with two counts of assault and released on a $10,000 bond.

In a news release, police said their investigation determined the assaults took place during two separate office visits in October and January. Police began their investigation in February.

Barte’s license to practice medicine is currently suspended. He had practiced at Community Health Care Network in the 1100 block of Washington Plaza West in Reston, Virginia.

Police said they believe there might be other victims and are asking anyone who may have experienced a similar incident with Barte to please contact the department’s Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7830.
