Teenager fatally shot in Fairfax Co.

WASHINGTON — A 17-year-old was shot to death in Fairfax County on Wednesday night.

The Fairfax County police said that they were called to Hagel Circle, in Lorton, at about 10:30 p.m. by someone who heard gunshots. They found Maurice Anderson Berger, 17, of Lorton, on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound. Fire and rescue personnel were called to the scene, but Berger was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

One neighbor who spoke to WTOP Thursday morning said she heard two gunshots.

“It’s really scary,” said Maria Ortiz.  “It sounded so loud, I thought it was like a transformer blowing.”

Investigators have yet to identify a suspect and are working with few details.

“An unidentified vehicle was reportedly observed leaving the scene, and we don’t have any description on that at this point,” said Police Officer Don Gotthardt.

The shooting is still under investigation.

WTOP’s Nick Iannelli contributed to this report.
