UPDATE 10/19/15 2:23 p.m.: WASHINGTON — All lanes have reopened at Route 1 and Groveton Street in Alexandria.

EARLIER 10/19/15 9:23 a.m.:

WASHINGTON — Crews are working on replacing a downed power pole on U.S. 1/Richmond Highway south of Alexandria, Virginia, which forced the closure of the busy road in both directions at Groveton Street.

Officials working at the scene say this closure could last well into the afternoon hours.

All northbound traffic is being diverted onto Popkins Lane. The southbound traffic diverts at Clayborne Avenue.
