Man charged with sex offenses after exposing himself to woman in Fairfax Co.

WASHINGTON — A man is facing charges after he allegedly exposed himself to a woman he had videotaped at a Fairfax County grocery store.

On Wednesday, police announced the arrest of 33-year-old Michael Wayne Edwards — a Centerville man who police say exposed himself to a woman and ran away on Aug. 5.

A woman was grocery shopping at the Safeway located at 11120 South Lakes Dr. in Reston, Virginia, on Aug. 5 around 1:15 p.m. when she noticed a man was following her around the store. The woman left the store and the man followed her to a location near Sunrise Valley Drive and Lakespray Way.

The man, who appeared to be videotaping her, reportedly exposed himself to her and then ran away.

There were no injuries.

Upon investigation, police determined that the man had filmed the woman under her clothing at the grocery store.

Police arrested Edwards Aug. 6 and he is charged with filming non-consensual nude, simulated masturbation and indecent exposure.

Edwards has been transported to the Fairfax Adult Detention Center.
