March Madness: Greatest TV Shows

WTOP's Jason Fraley previews the First Round of 64 (Jason Fraley)

WASHINGTON — March Madness is officially here for college hoops fans.

But it also brings a fun annual tradition on the WTOP entertainment page.

This year we ask readers: What are the greatest TV shows of all time?

We’ve divided the 64-team bracket into four regions — Modern Drama, Modern Comedy, Classic Drama and Classic Comedy. For dramas, the classic period was defined as everything prior to 1990. For comedies, the classic period was everything prior to 1982.

As you can imagine, it was damn near impossible to narrow the field — leaving some of our favorite shows on the cutting-room floor — but all in all, the cream of the crop remains.

Seeding is based on quality, popularity and influence, as well as an overall desire to create compelling head-to-head matchups between common casts, genres and themes.

Click through the gallery below to vote! First Round voting closes at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Bracket excludes miniseries, sketch, reality, soaps, educational, talk shows and game shows.
