Selena to tour, release new music in hologram

WASHINGTON — We’ve seen it with 2Pac and Michael Jackson.

Now, Selena Quintanilla could be the next ill-fated singer to get the hologram treatment.

Billboard reports the hologram will be a “walking, talking, singing, and dancing, digital embodiment” of the Mexican-American performer, which “will release new songs and videos, will collaborate with current hit artists, and aims to go on tour in 2018.”

The website SelenaTheOne.com is promoting an IndieGoGo campaign, hoping to raise $500,000 for the hologram, which is being developed by the Nevada-based tech company Acrovirt LLC in collaboration with Selena’s immediate family.

The news comes off the recent 20th anniversary of Selena’s murder on March 31, 1995.

At the time, Selena was a massive success in Latin America just about to cross over with an English-language album with hits like “I Could Fall in Love” and “Dreaming of You.”

Her legend grew with the film “Selena” (1997), which made Jennifer Lopez a star.
