Howard University issuing tuition rebates to graduating students

WASHINGTON — A year after Howard University officials announced a plan to reward early- or on-time degree completion for its students, some have already started to get 50 percent rebates from their final semester’s tuition.

The direct payments are being made via cash, credit card or installment plans — beginning now through May graduation.

“Howard University has an unwavering commitment to the needs of its students,” Howard University President Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick said in a statement.

“We are excited to offer our students this financial rebate as a reward for accomplishing their goals on time. We certainly hope some financial relief is provided as well.”

The rebate program was unanimously supported by Howard University’s trustees board.
