WASHINGTON — A Maryland man is in police custody for the killing of a D.C. woman last March.

D.C. police said in a news release that 32-year-old Antonio Clifton Jackson, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, has been arrested for the March 29 stabbing of 52-year-old Maria Antoinette Evans, of Southeast.

Jackson is charged with first-degree murder.

Police found Evans on the 500 block of Oakwood Street Southeast just before 8 a.m. She had multiple stab wounds and was taken to the hospital. She died from her injuries.

D.C. police released a surveillance video in April that showed a man likely involved in Evans’ killing. The video showed a bearded man, with a unique gait carrying a knife in his right hand and walking with a woman behind a fenced area on Oakwood Street Southeast. The video then cuts to the suspect walking out alone.
