WASHINGTON — A pedestrian was critically injured Friday evening after being struck by a tour bus near the Tidal Basin in D.C.
NBC4 Washington said the pedestrian is a 14-year-old boy, according to U.S. Park Police.
The juvenile victim was trapped under the bus afterward. A D.C. Fire and EMS crew extricated the young victim, who was then transported to a hospital by a U.S. Park Police helicopter.
The bus had been traveling on Independence Avenue Southwest — toward the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial — around 7 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Street were closed around the intersection of Independence and West Basin Drive Southwest as responders worked in the area.
