WASHINGTON — Families who frequent Walter Pierce Park in Adams Morgan have been wondering what happened to a popular piece of playground equipment that was shaped like a firetruck.
The truck recently disappeared, causing a lot of confusion. Many people believed the truck had been stolen, leading D.C. police to launch a theft investigation into the matter.
“This is known as the firetruck playground by my son and a lot of the other families,” mother Naomi Taitz told NBC Washington. “That was the main attraction.”
But now the mystery has been solved.
The D.C. Department of General Services says it was responsible for removing the truck and disposing of it because it was broken.
The agency, which did not inform the community about what it was doing, says the truck will be replaced with a new one in the coming weeks.
