WASHINGTON — Three inmates were taken to the hospital after a fight broke out at the D.C. Jail Thursday night.
Some of the inmates at the D.C. Central Detention Facility suffered cuts and puncture wounds from a homemade weapon, or “shank.”
Department of Corrections spokeswoman Sylvia Lane tells WTOP that five people were involved in the fight. They all suffered nonlife threatening injuries.
The DOC is investigating what led to the fight.
