Police seek suspect in fatal Shaw shooting

WASHINGTON — Police are searching for a 19-year-old wanted in connection with a shooting in D.C.’s Shaw neighborhood that led to the stray-gunfire death of a 23-year-old American University graduate over the weekend.

On Thursday, the Metropolitan Police Department announced its officers are searching for 19-year-old Marcus King of Northwest D.C. He is wanted in connection with a shooting in the 1800 block of Seventh Street in Northwest at about 4:50 p.m. on Saturday.

Matthew Shlonsky, 23, of Northeast D.C. was struck by stray bullet and died as a result of his injuries. Shlonsky was a 2014 graduate of American University.

King’s arrest warrant charges him with second degree murder while armed.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for information about King’s whereabouts to call 202-727-9099.
