American University graduate shot and killed in Northwest D.C.

WASHINGTON– Police are still looking for a suspect in Saturday’s fatal shooting that left one dead.

The victim, Matthew Shlonsky, 23, of Northeast D.C., was a 2014 graduate of American University. Shlonsky was killed just before 5 p.m. Saturday. The shooting occurred on the 1800 block of Seventh Street, Northwest.

Shlonsky was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police are still looking for a burgundy Chrysler 300 with Maryland license plates seen fleeing the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.

Police are also offering a  reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in D.C.  Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s text tip line by text messaging 50411.
