WASHINGTON — It seems things might be a little too fast-paced in the nation’s capital, at least if sweat stains are any indication.
Washington, D.C., has earned the dubious honor as the sixth-sweatiest place in the country, according to a recent report. The rankings were compiled by the folks who make Honeywell Fans, with help from scientists at an environmental consultant firm.
They combed through data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association’s National Climatic Data Center and the U.S. Census Bureau to determine which U.S. cities were sweatiest.
The top 10 sweatiest cities are:
1. Tampa, Florida
2. Miami
3. Houston
4. San Diego
5. Orlando, Florida
6. Washington, D.C.
7. Raleigh, North Carolina
8. Los Angeles
9. Dallas
10. Charlotte, North Carolina
“We looked at a range of environmental factors including average temperature and humidity levels during summer months, population and housing density, and average wind speed, which has an evaporative cooling effect,” Dr. Ted Myatt, of Environmental Health & Engineering, said in a news release.
