Daycare worker charged with abusing babies

WASHINGTON — A day care worker at a high-end day care center in Northwest D.C. is accused of abusing two babies in her care.

Claudia Roldan, 35, is accused of abusing a 3-month-old and a 7-month-old at Kiddie Academy of DC on 25th Street NW in Foggy Bottom after the 3-month-old was found with 12 separate bruises on the baby’s back, left arm and both thighs.

It’s believed those bruises were caused “blunt force or compressive force,” according to court documents.

Parents told NBC 4 they like that the facility has security cameras, and they the center sends images of their children to them throughout the day.

Kiddie Academy of DC owner Milena Mattingly told NBC 4 that Roldan has been fired for breaching the company’s conduct policy. The day care center has been working with investigators.

Court documents also noticed the help security footage has offered to the investigation.

Roldan has been charged with two counts of second-degree child abuse and was released on her own recognizance.
