WASHINGTON – Ahead of Monday morning’s anticipated freezing rain, the District is preparing to deploy the D.C. Snow Team.
A freezing rain advisory was issued for the region from 10 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday.
More than 200 plows will be sent out by 3 a.m., according to a news release. The team will apply salt to roadways, but property owners are asked to put abrasives on their sidewalks ahead of the inclement weather. Those abrasives include deicer, rock salt or non-clumping kitty litter.
Leaf and holiday tree collections are suspended for Monday, but will resume once streets are cleared.
According to the District, crews will attempt to follow regular trash and recycling collections. But if they are unable to do so, residents should hold onto their trash and recycling until the next collection day.
