1. March 20 vs. Colorado Rapids, 5 p.m. (Home Opener)
D.C. United’s first home game comes a week from Sunday, on March 20 against the Colorado Rapids. It will be your first chance to see new signings Lamar Neagle (pictured) and Patrick Nyarko in action. Colorado comes off a disappointing 2015 MLS season, finishing second to last overall with the least goals scored of any team.

2. April 16 vs. Toronto FC, 7 p.m.
Toronto FC will bring American internationals Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore to RFK Stadium on April 20. This will be a tough fixture for D.C., who will also have to contend with 2015’s top MLS goal-scorer Sebastian Giovinco.

3. June 1 vs. Seattle Sounders, 8 p.m.
American Internationals Clint Dempsey and Brad Evans come to town with the Seattle Sounders in early June. The Sounders lost 2015 MLS All-Star Obefami Martins over the winter break, but new signing Jordan Morris looks to have a standout season and will keep D.C.’s hands full in what could be a thrilling game.

4. August 21 vs. New York Red Bulls, 3 p.m.
D.C. United against the New York Red Bulls, also known as the Atlantic Cup, is one of the league’s oldest rivalries. This year’s matchup might be more contentious still, as United look to get sweet, sweet payback after being knocked out of the postseason by New York two years in a row.

5. October 16 vs NYCFC, 5 p.m. (Final Home Game)
European stars Frank Lampard, David Villa and Andrea Pirlo come to the capital with NYCFC for D.C. United’s last home game of the season. Besides featuring famous names, this game could be crucial for D.C.’s postseason aspirations, depending on results earlier in the year.

WASHINGTON — D.C. United doesn’t open their home slate next weekend. But with the MLS season underway, we looked ahead at the Red and Black’s home schedule to find the most exciting fixtures taking place at RFK Stadium this year.
The season kicked off last week in Los Angeles, with D.C. United’s home opener coming March 20, following another away match at Boston.
