WASHINGTON – Single tracking has ended on Metro’s Red Line Tuesday afternoon after problems through the morning commute caused delays for commuters.
The Red Line was single tracking between Grosvenor and Friendship Heights due to an arcing insulator and a power-cable problem at Medical Center. The single tracking began around 5:30 a.m. and ended around 3:45 p.m.
Metro personnel said there was no smoke or fire as a result of the problem.
Metro announced at about 7 a.m. that trains would be single tracking on another segment of the Red Line: between Dupont Circle and Van Ness-UDC, due to another arcing insulator at Woodley Park. That was resolved at about 8:30.
