WASHINGTON — National Sandwich Day is your chance to get a free meal.

Nov. 3 is National Sandwich Day, and many sandwich shops and chains are participating with free items and donations.

According to ABC News, the holiday was created to celebrate John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who created the easy, go-to meal in 1792.

Firehouse Subs: If you’re the first of 50 to order the “Hook & Ladder” sub, you’re welcome to free chips and a medium drink with a medium or large sub on your next purchase, as well as a custom sub enamel pin. ABC News reports that local Chik-Fil-A and Arby’s locations are offering their own deals at participating locations to customers. They also state that Blimpie locations have sent out a coupon to those in their eClub.
