Va.-based Elevation Burger goes to Egypt

WASHINGTON — Falls Church, Virginia-based Elevation Burger is making another big push into the Middle East, with 20 new franchised locations in the works in Egypt.

Elevation Burger already has 23 locations in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

The chain, whose menu items are halal, says it will open its first location in Cairo later this year.

Elevation Burger has grown to 60 locations in the U.S. and abroad.  Also, it calls itself the nation’s largest restaurant seller of organic beef.

Last year, it added certified-organic grilled chicken to its menu. Also, its french fries are cooked in olive oil.

Elevation Burger has 14 locations in the D.C. region, including campus restaurants at American University and Georgetown University.

Elevation Burger was founded by California transplant Hans Hess, who wanted to build a burger menu based on organic, grass fed beef.  Hess and his wife April Hess opened their first restaurant in Falls Church in 2005.

The company began franchising in 2008.
