A Washington, D.C. restaurant icon will open a Baltimore outpost next month.
Ben’s Chili Bowl, the famed U Street restaurant that has served celebrities and politicians including President Barack Obama, will debut a location inside Horseshoe Casino’s Marketplace food hall in early March, casino officials said Tuesday.
It will be just the second Maryland location for the eatery — the first is a stall in FedEx Field. Ben’s now has six locations, including stalls at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Nationals Park, and was founded in 1958 by Ben and Virginia Ali. Ben’s is known particularly for its half-smoke, a hearty grilled pork-and-beef sausage wrapped in a bun and topped with onions, mustard and beef chili.
The eatery also serves traditional chili dogs, burgers (beef, turkey and veggie), chili bowls, chili cheese fries and hand-spun milkshakes.
