BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say an armed man who barricaded himself in his home with his toddler son surrendered hours after releasing his toddler son unharmed.
Department spokesman T.J. Smith said at a briefing near the house in southwest Baltimore that the incident began about 10 a.m. Wednesday. He says officers were trying to serve an arrest warrant for burglary on the man and approached him while he was holding his young son.
Smith says the man told officers he had a weapon, which police believe to be a handgun, and went back into his home.
Police say the man released his son Wednesday afternoon, and surrendered about 5 p.m., when he was taken into custody.
