Police: 1 Md. woman dead after domestic assault in Glen Burnie

WASHINGTON — A woman died Sunday from injuries she suffered when her boyfriend assaulted her in a parking lot near her home in Glen Burnie, Maryland on Saturday night, Anne Arundel County police said.

Charlotta Lynn Barkley, 46, and her 42-year-old  boyfriend, Michael Carroll Wilson, were arguing in the parking lot within the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court when Wilson assaulted Barkley with a sharp weapon, according to a press release from Anne Arundel County police. A woman tried to intervene but was also assaulted by Wilson, which resulted in injuries to her hand, police said.

Police said Wilson left the scene on foot.

Meanwhile, Barkley and the second victim were taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Barkley suffered severe trauma to her upper body and died from the injuries Sunday morning. The second victim also had injuries to her upper body. She was later released from the hospital.

Police said they arrested Wilson on Sunday morning at the 7800 block of Crain Highway South on charges of first degree murder; second degree murder; attempted first and second degree murder. Wilson also faces assault, reckless endangerment and dangerous weapon charges.

According to police, Barkley and Wilson had an on-again, off-again relationship for several years.

Barkley will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
