Crisis counselors at Alexandria’s TC Williams after weekend violence kills 2

WASHINGTON — Counselors are available at Alexandria, Virginia’s T.C. Williams High School for students who need help coping with weekend violence that touched the school.

In a letter to parents, T.C. Williams principal Peter Balas says it is important that the school to be supportive and encourage kids to express their feelings.

Balas said the school expects a variety of emotions and reactions to the deadly violence.

A 17-year-old girl was shot to death Sunday evening and a 15-year-old boy was wounded in the popular James Marx All Veterans Park. Both had attended the school.

The shooting suspect, Yerson Nunez Lopez, 19, of Maryland, was found dead at the scene with self-inflicted injuries.

Police say the suspect and the victims knew each other.
