The FBI is searching for a man used a hoax bomb during a robbery at an Alexandria bank Monday.
The suspect is described as a heavyset black man in his 50s. He is about 6 feet tall and wore a grey hate and a black puffy jacket at the time of the crime.

WASHINGTON — The FBI is searching for a man who used a hoax bomb during a robbery at an Alexandria bank Monday.

Officials say a man robbed the Burke & Herbert Bank at 306 East Monroe Ave. in Alexandria at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. During the robbery, the man approached the bank teller with a demand note and a fake bomb, officials say.

The suspect then left the device and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a heavyset black man in his 50s. He is about 6 feet tall and wore a grey hat and a black puffy jacket at the time of the crime.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the man’s arrest.

The FBI and the Alexandria police are investigating the robbery. Anyone with information about the case, is asked to contact the FBI at 202-278-2000 or Alexandria police at 703-746-4444.
