Maryland’s primary election Tuesday kicks off an election cycle that will lead to changes in key leadership positions in each layer of government.
While the nation will be watching as voters pick their party nominees for congressional seats and governor, residents across the state also have important decisions to make at the local level.
The state’s most populous counties have contested primaries for county executive, council seats and positions on the board of education. There are also races for state’s attorney and sheriff across the state.
