1 killed in car, Metrobus crash on Suitland Parkway identified

WASHINGTON — A person that was killed in a Wednesday night crash between a car and a Metrobus on Suitland Parkway near Stanton Road Southeast has been identified Friday, police said.

Tyrie Donnell Bailey, 19, of Suitland, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene; Bailey was a passenger of the car that collided with a Metrobus around 10 p.m. Wednesday. The crash left one person dead, another in critical condition and others injured, according to D.C. police.

The car was traveling westbound on the parkway, failing to stop at a red light. The Metrobus was traveling southbound on Stanton Road.

The bus driver and three passengers had minor injuries, police said, while the driver of the car was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

All lanes were blocked between Firth Sterling Avenue and Naylor Road during the crash investigation.

A hazmat unit dealt with a fuel leak from the bus earlier.
