Takoma Park police officer charged with assault on D.C. officer

WASHINGTON — A Takoma Park police officer is in trouble with the law, accused of assaulting a D.C. police officer outside a downtown Washington nightclub.

Milton Flores, 23, and a 27-year-old woman were arrested around 1 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7 outside Ultrabar on F Street in downtown D.C.  Both are charged with simple assault on a police officer, which is a misdemeanor, according to a police report.

According to Takoma Park Police, Flores has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.

Alan Goldberg, chief of police for Takoma Park, said in statement that all officers are held to a higher standard.

“When an officer crosses that line, he or she damages the reputation of all officers regardless if it is an off duty or on duty activity,” said Goldberg

Goldberg said the department will conduct its own internal investigation into the case and if the allegations are true, will take appropriate action.

Flores has been on the force in Takoma Park since August of 2014.
