While Car2Go deductible goes down, fee per trip goes up

WASHINGTON — The good news for Car2Go drivers: The deductible for car damage is going down. The bad news for Car2Go drivers: The cost for each trip is going up.

In an e-mail to customers Friday night, Car2Go announced that beginning June 1, the first 90 Car2Go trips of a calendar year will cost an additional $1 “driver protection fee” on top of the $0.41 a minute. Additionally, the deductible will be whacked down from $1,000 to $250.

After the 90 trips, Car2Go will stop charging the $1 fee and there will no longer be any deductible for that calendar year.

Car2Go is a car sharing service where users can pick up a designated Smart Fortwo vehicle using a smartphone app and their membership card, drive it to a destination and park it in any legal parking spot.
