WASHINGTON — A United Airlines passenger died Tuesday night after experiencing a medical problem that caused the flight to divert to Dulles International Airport.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority were at the scene on the runway when United flight 1888 from Houston to Boston landed at Dulles shortly before midnight, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said.
Medical personnel met the plane at the gate, but the passenger had died, CBS News reports.
The other passengers were taken to the terminal by bus and reassigned to another Boston-bound plane.
“We are saddened to learn that our customer passed away and we extend our sincerest condolences to the family,” United Airlines said in a statement.
No further information has been released.
