Police seek driver for alleged sexual assault

WASHINGTON — A woman says she was sexually assaulted over the weekend, and that her attacker was someone driving a car that had been used by an Uber driver.

Police say they do not know if the vehicle was being driven by the ride share service that night.

The woman told police she was intoxicated and got into a vehicle that was not her intended ride around 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. Sunday. Police say the driver agreed to give her a ride, even though she did not use the Uber app to set up the trip.

According to police, when the woman was unable to pay the fare upon arriving in the 900 block of Randolph Street in Arlington, the driver sexually assaulted her.

The woman fled to a nearby friend’s house.

Police say the suspect was described as a Middle Eastern man with short, curly black hair and a goatee. He was wearing a dark polo shirt and jeans at the time of the incident.
